Important Transferware Collection Offered by Pook & Pook
April 28, 2018
Susan Ventresca has loved antique British transferware for as long as she can remember, starting her collection when she was just a child, following a tradition established by her grandfather and parents. Growing up, it was exciting to visit the places depicted in her family’s collection. For Ms. Ventresca, one such memory that stands out is a trip to Pittsfield, Massachusetts to see the iconic elm tree (sadly no longer standing) that she had seen represented in crisp blue transfer inside her family’s china cabinet. As an adult it has become a thrilling, full-circle experience to acquire the same pieces for her own collection alongside her husband Ben. Her personal “white whale” was the Arms of Pennsylvania platter, a most desirable piece that she acquired from Pook & Pook in 2010 for a record-breaking price. Ms. Ventresca is ready to share the joy of collecting antique transferware with others as over seventy pieces of her distinguished collection are set to cross the auction block at Pook & Pook’s Americana & International sale on April 28th, 2018.
